Woman Shot by Ex-boyfriend’s Wife
Marrero, Louisiana – A woman with gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital in New Orleans on the 27th of February, told officers she’d been shot while being robbed at gun point.
As detectives began to unravel the details of 34-year-old Robin Ventris’ story, it quickly fell to pieces as they uncovered the truth.
According to Nola, Ventris was actually shot when she tried to break into the home of her 44-year-old ex-boyfriend and his 42-year-old wife.
The couple told officers they were asleep in their home at around 3:15 a.m. on the block of Lancaster Dr. when they heard banging on the front door of the home. The wife approached the door wondering what was going and realized someone was trying to kick down the door.
“She fired a gun multiple times through the door. The person on the other side of the door fired back,” said Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jason Rivarde.
The homeowners were not struck by the returned gun fire and by the time law enforcement arrived the attacker had fled the scene, but detectives discovered blood on the ground indicating the intruder was injured in the gunfight.
A firearm was discovered near the crime scene and investigators quickly learned it had been reported stolen in Mississippi.
The victims said they didn’t know who had been trying to break into their home, but since Ventris had threatened to kill the couple in the past, thought it might have been her.
Deputies canvassed the local hospitals looking for anyone who might have sustained a gunshot wound and were notified of Ventris’ arrival seeking medical care for gunshot wounds to her hand and leg at around 9 a.m.
Ventris first told officers she had been shot during a robbery in New Orleans earlier that morning, but as detectives pressed, she finally admitted to the attempted break-in and firing shots back at the victims.
She was treated for her injuries before being charged by deputies with attempted murder, attempted aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice, and possession of a stolen firearm. Ventris was then booked into Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna and held without bail.
There have been no reports of charges being leveled against the couple for their roll in the shooting at this time.
